Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki have combined into Aalto University on 1 January 2010.

 The ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees of the Aalto University School of Science and Technology, comprising the conferment of degrees and a banquet and ball, will be organized on 1 October 2010.

In the ceremony, doctoral degrees will be conferred upon those Doctors of Science in Technology and Doctors of Philosophy who have completed their doctoral studies at the Aalto University School of Science and Technology by 30 June 2010, as well as upon 9 Honorary Doctors, whose names will be announced in May 2010.
